SharePoint 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2 : The tool was unable to install Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS) Role

Hi There,

I spent hours to troubleshoot this issue while installing SharePoint 2013 Prerequisites on Windows Server 2012 R2 but no gain. I have installed IIS and its features manually but still did not work.

The tool was unable to install Application Server Role, Web Server (IIS) Role


The Logs Shows Below

1. Error: Startup task doesn’t exist. This is not a continuation after a restart

Things i have done which didn't helped actually.

1. Manually installed IIS and its Features
2. Manually enabled Framework 4.5 and 3.5 features
3. Edited Local Group Policy and ran the prerequisites installer but still didn't work

Solution:

A big thanks to my lead Mr. Shahid Sheraz for sitting beside me and showing this post that he wrote.

I found the same solution here too. Quick steps are below.

1. Go to C:\Windows\system32\ and locate file ServerManager.exe
2. Copy and rename the file with ServerManagerCmd.exe
3. Run the Prerequisites wizard again.

    I have the same issue, but I cannot rename this file. At first it said 'You need permissions from 'TrustedInstaller' to make changes to this file.

    Because of this I made myself owner of the file (instead of the TrustedInstaller' And now I get the message: You require permission from to make changes to this file.

    The thing is that I am the domain user that its mentioning. So basically it says, you cannot edit this file, because you need permissions from yourself.

    Extremely annoying, please let me know if anyone has a fix for this...

      Basically Microsoft deprecated Servermanagercmd.exe in Windows Server 2012 and available only on servers that are running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

      We have to bare this if working with higher version of windows than 2008. You must have permissions to copy and rename file. In case you don't have permissions to do so, just run the prerequisites manually one by one. See below article for more information. Hope it helps.

    I do not find ServerManager.exe in this path C:\Windows\system32.

Service Bus Gateway service stuck at Starting

Lesson Learned: Never leave your servers to automatically download and install the updates. We had a SharePoint farm where Workflow manager is configured on one of its server and rest of them are just using WFM client to connect with the server. Everything was running smooth until some updates got installed on the servers over night and the next morning Workflows stuck and start giving errors. As initial check, I verified SharePoint services and WFM services, noticed that the Service Bus Gateway service is struck at Starting state. This was very generic thing but at least a point to start thinking... Troubleshooting: 1. Tried manual restart, but no luck. 2. Tried Leaving and Joining the WFM Farm again. But the timeout error. Error message received during rejoining:  “Starting Service bus gateway on machine <servername> failed: timeout has expired and the operation has not been completed” 3. PowerApps SubmitForm not clearing People Picker value

Although its a great experience working with Microsoft products but sometimes they surprises you with bugs that being a developer you would not expect. You may come across the problem that PowerApps SubmitForm is not updating data in SharePoint list, specially the People Picker type field (could be the same case with datetime type as well. Same thing I have experienced that while working on a PowerApps form which is connected with simple SharePoint list, I was unable to update the value of People Picker control which was having no special settings in SharePoint, just simple out of the box list with Title and a People Picker column. Apple iPhone sending SMS automatically 00447786205094

Hi There, I have just noticed that my credit is being deducted from my mobile account. I am in Pakistan and using Warid Tel network. I see my mobile credit details after few hours on my screen. This facility is provided only by Warid Telecom that they provide your credit details each time you make a call or send SMS. I checked my Message,Calls logs emails logs etc but no point where i can check that why me credit is being deducted. Absolutely nothing found. :-/  I called Warid Tel support center and the guy told me that there are 4 SMS that have been sent internationally from my iPhone 5. Download file failed signature verification and may have been tampered with - Workflow Manger 1.0 Refresh (CU2)

Since there is no major updates in Workflow Manager installation process for last couple of years, the offline installation became really difficult. Microsoft recommends to install it through WPI  tool, however sometimes the online installation also becomes a nightmare. This is what happened recently. Problem Description: For one of our client, we had to prepare environment with following. SharePoint Server Enterprise 2019 Window Server 2019 Standard Workflow Manager 2013 As usual I followed the same installation guide which ran fine few weeks ago with another different environment but here we faced the below error while installing Workflow Manager Refresh 1.0 (CU2).
